About Farm Planner

Farm Planner is a record-keeping app for smallholdings — the kind of farm with a few dozen birds, some rabbits, a polytunnel and a shed with no phone signal in it.

What it does

It keeps the things a small farm actually runs on in one place: livestock and their treatments, crops and plantings, feed and water, equipment and its servicing, and what all of it costs. It installs to a phone and opens without a connection, because the moment you need to record something is usually the moment you are standing in a pen, and the moment you have signal is an hour later.

The parts we care most about getting right are the ones with a consequence attached. Medicine withdrawal periods, so eggs and meat are not sold before they clear. What a batch actually cost to raise, down to the feed it ate and the water it drank. Jobs that fall due on their own — a vaccination, a low feed bin, a pen overdue a rest — rather than jobs you have to remember to write down.

Who it is for

People running a few animals and a few beds, usually alongside another job. Not agribusiness — the software for that exists, costs what a tractor costs, and assumes a full-time office. If you have four rabbits and forty-six quail and a notebook that has been rained on, this was built with you in mind.

The free calculators

The calculators are free and need no account — hatch dates, feed days remaining, coop sizing, withdrawal periods, egg costs, profit per acre and more. They exist because the questions they answer get asked constantly and answered badly, and because a tool that helps you before you sign up is a fairer introduction than one that helps you after.

The crop guides work the same way: they ask you for your own climate and frost dates rather than quoting figures from somewhere else, because a planting date copied between climates is wrong more often than it is right.

How it is paid for

Everything is free while the app is in early access. No card is taken, nothing expires, and no feature is held back. When paid plans start we will say so well in advance, and accounts created during early access keep the founding rate.

Payments are handled by Paddle as merchant of record, so we never see or store a card number. You can cancel from inside the app on any day, export everything you have entered to CSV, and delete the account outright — see the refund policy and the privacy policy for the detail.

Some pages carry advertising. Ads never determine what the app records or what a calculator returns.

Languages

The app runs in English, French, Spanish and Arabic, including right-to-left layout. Farming is not an English-speaking activity and a tool that only works in one language excludes most of the people who would use it.

Getting in touch

Corrections are welcome and acted on — if a figure on one of these pages does not match your experience, we would rather hear it. The contact page has the address.
